Inspired by Rob Liefelds highjacking of The Fighting American and also flipping the bird to Marvel Entertainment I thought it would be great to bring back another Joe Simon character. Pirana was a slam dunk the aquatic character successfully swam into the abyss of forgetfulness. The BIG IDEA was to insert the Sub Mariner origin into Pirina while using it as a launching pad to an entire universe of characters (the rest of the unused Simonvere). Pirana would be the first of a new age of mankind his arrival would trigger the revelation of a secret world that only few knew of. Like the Sub Mariner he would have a relationship with a human girl and from there that is where all the similarities would end. This would have been my attempt to match the Watchmen and do something completely insane and entertaining to me.
While solidifying the direction I fought to do nothing but impress the Simon camp I quickly got turned off by their demeenr during the talks (mostly through email). It came down to exactly how was this going to be done finacally. I professed more time and development would bring in better talent than myself and cerently the investments my role would be the architect of the series. This is were the disconnection was complete I knew no one else in their right mind would persue Pirana and the Simon camp only seemed interested in dough. We had nothing but time to develop something rock solid and timeless. Instead of bringing the character and possibly the rest of the Simonverse back both parties had to kill development.
