Jim Lee was born in 1964, in Seoul, South Korea. A graduate of Princeton University, Jim forsook a career in medicine to try his hand in comics – his childhood passion. He soon landed work at Marvel, illustrating such titles as Alpha Flight and the Punisher: War Journal, but it was his run on Uncanny X-men that garnered him both critical accolades and a popular following among comic fans. His attention to detail and characterization revitalized the X-Men, catapulting that title to record sales and earning him Comic Buyers Guide’s awards for Best Artist and Best Cover Artist in 1991.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Jim went on to help start Image Comics with some of his peers in 1992, launching a number of successful titles such as WILDC.A.T.S, STORMWATCH, and DEATHBLOW. Jim lives in San Diego, CA with his wife Angie and his daughter Tyler, but as a founder of Homage Studios, he can usually be found at a drawing table, creating and illustrating new heroes for the next generation of fans. Recent projects have included UNION, GEN 13, and the ongoing WILDC.A.T.S series, as well as launching the KILLER INSTINCT crossover with studio mate Marc Silvestri.
