American Apparel rightfully has been accused of creating porn ads in the hope of saving their declining business when these ads rolled out. However, that does not take away from their impact, in that sense, these are a master class in imagery. I was heavily reading Vapor, Interview, and V magazines when these ads first came to my attention and then I read them as youthful. The type of youthfulness that makes you a bit jealous as an adult. And even to this day, there is in energy to these images that I dare to re-create.

Porn or not.
Appropriate or not.
These ads will outlive the fashion they represent.
