This fairy among a batch of character pieces stemmed back to a Hump Day show hosted by the irredeemable Omar Glith, the Texas-minded madman whose life goal is to bring internet people together for endless draw streams—if you didn’t already know. During many of these streams, I work on whatever is at the top of my stack. Yes, my work stack. This is a discipline I rounded out during my days with Design Pros. It was the method we utilized for drawing while managing timelines and so forth. One could adjust the stack if an angry, impatient phone call or email came in, and yes—even though we’d signed off on delivery dates—those dates could still be adjusted. So during this particular stream, I decided to set up some artwork in the layout and penciling stage, simply because it had to get done. And if AKAPAD is anything, he’s a “getting it done” kind of guy.
As 2026 rolled around, I had these character drawings sitting in my stack for a little too long. With the new year upon us, it was finally time for the crow quill nibs and black India ink to bring these characters to life. Originally, these character drawings were done for and of a client that went astray. Maybe another time, when I’m feeling more delirious and astray myself, I’ll fill you all in on yet another client blowout. But for now, these character drawings are simply going to go by the most generic names possible—to avoid upsetting anyone, including Johnny Law.
So finally, here it is: a superhero fairy in all her black-and-white glory.

For me, the best part of this piece is we now have a thread or a category within AKAPAD.COM that is (drum roll) Fairy, where I can analyze the steps I took in solving some wonderful and obvious illustration problems when depicting these allusive fantastical creatures.
