Peter met Brian McMenamin through a mutual friend, Ben Jackendoff, who was collaborating with Peter on multimedia projects in New Jersey and with the local Chamber of Commerce at the time. Another striking coincidence emerged when Brian revealed he’d also attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia, majoring in animation—just like Peter. Brian brought an art style that echoed Peter’s collaborators from that era: raw, “street”-infused, and refreshingly undisciplined compared to the polished aesthetic Peter was accustomed to. This made him an ideal addition to Peter’s studio, NouVeau Studios. Brian contributed a hand-drawn animation style infused with an MTV graffiti edge, injecting something uniquely vibrant into NVS’s portfolio.
